Potters Field Orphanage - El Salvador Day 5
Today we were able to bless the people of Suchitoto by painting their church. The town of Suchitoto has an extra bit of spiritual warfare. Strange things will happen to interrupt service. For example, during an alter call, a marching band would come down the street, interrupting the service. Tonight, fireworks started midway through the service, completely interrupting right when the point of the message was being delivered. I think it’s important to think of spiritual warfare as a positive thing, as a little push of help, as long as we don’t fall into satan’s trap and follow the way the Lord is leading.
The Lord is still doing little blessings consistently throughout our trip. He's really stretching all of us and leading us to bless everyone we come into contact with. That's our goal, to let everyone know that God's glory is all around us, in the biggest and the smallest things.
The pastor of Suchitoto Church had an amazing message tonight. We give thanks to God, but do we thank Him for everything? Think about your car, your house, your family, your meals, think of the littlest things, and the biggest things in your life. Do you thank God for those things every single day? Because the Lord can take them away in a second. What you have today, you may not have tomorrow, and if the Lord is trying to get through to you, he will give or take away. Our God is a jealous God. If you are letting things, material or not, get in the way of worshiping and glorifying Him, he will take out of your life what He sees as a barrier from you to Him. The second part of the message was to keep the promises that you make to the Lord. How many times have you said, "Lord, if you're real...". And how many times has the Lord answered those prayers? He is so faithful to us, but are we always faithful to Him? Imagine how you would feel if someone made a promise to you and didn't keep it? How many times a day do we promise the Lord something, and don't fulfill our promise?
Give thanks to the Lord for every little thing. Pray a little longer during your next devotional time and thank Him for the things you take for granted. Keep the promises you make to the Lord, and thank Him for the prayers He's answered. He is always there for us, we should always be there and open for Him as well.
